Remidio Fundus on Phone
Remidio started as an exploratory work with Anand Sivaraman for developing an affordable retinal imaging device. The work involved going back to the basics and creating new ground-up concepts. Solving the imaging problem with optics lead to creation of a platform which formed the first IP for Remidio.
Various iterations of the design were done and at every stage the concepts were validated by taking to the users and doctors and then refining the optics and the design to meet the requirements.
The result of this project was to create FOP which is far more efficient and cost effective when compared to any other retinal imaging device without compromising the image quality. The versatility of the product enables it to be used in eye camps where there is scarcity of power and trained operators. The device is battery powered and the images are captured in a smart phone thus enabling user to easily collaborate with experts to get opinion. The device has now become an industry standard in the handheld retinal imaging category.
This whole project gave a fresh perspective in viewing projects from the founding team and the same principle is being replicated to all other projects that we are attempting to do.
